Abstract

Currently, the rising energy demand considered dramatic depletion of fossil fuels and causing rise for energy fees. Additionally, the fossil fuel is exhausted power resource and reflect negatively on the surrounding environment due to the toxic gases which produced during burning the fossil fuel. So, the renewable power source is the best solution for this problem and consider environmentally friendly source, but the capital cost and fluctuation in renewable resource consider the main obstacle for using the renewable power source. It is necessary to find a system to overcome all previous challenges. The use of hybrid renewable energy is the solution to the above. It is a combination of different types of renewable energy sources (the main source of energy) and traditional energy sources (the secondary source of energy) In the case of the inability of renewable sources to achieve the required energy, but a study must be done to achieve the optimal design of the possibility of knowing the size of each energy source in terms of the cost of purchase, operation, maintenance, replacement and other expenses and through this study is the optimal choice for the size for each source that used in the power generation system.
Approach presents an arranged examination for optimum pattern of Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems (HRES). The optimization was appreciated through the usage of hybrid optimization model for electric renewable (HOMER) program and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithms. The hybrid optimization model for electric renewable (HOMER) is most commonly used, as it easily accessible and user-friendly software. HOMER has been downloaded by over 80,000 people in 193 countries. The software is applicable for implementation feasibility analysis, optimization and sensitivity analysis in some probable system arrangements. Net present cost (NPC) consider the main economical factor that the study focus on it, two techniques has been used for reach the main objective of this study, ACO technique and HOMER software which used all available effective tools for sensitive and deep analysis, the ACO analysis is more effective, simple and accurate than HOMER program due to the deep analysis for each power source, which lead to accurate sizing of each resource. Additionally ACO algorithms not common usage in similar renewable energy studies which give advantage and make this study pioneer in this field. Also, ACO gives more accurate results compared with HOMER program that shows in this thesis, Reducing the NPC, decrease emission and increasing the system reliability consider the main study objectives.
