Abstract This study included two groups of subjects, first group (study group) 30 patients aged 30-60 years old with vasculogenic erectile dysfunction and the second group (control group) included 30 healthy subjects. The aim of our study is to demonstrate the effect of atorvastatin on ADMA level and erectile function in patients with normal or high LDL level vasculogenic erectile dysfunction. We found that study group had significantly higher serum levels of ADMA than the control patients. The present study demonstrated that among men with ultrasonographically documented vasculogenic ED, ADMA levels were significantly higher in subjects with arterial insufficiency (63.4%) than in men with venous leakage alone (36.6%). There was high significant reduction in both ADMA and LDL level after 6 weeks atorvastatin treatment and significant improvement in IIEF score, However no significant change in testosterone level. Six patients showed severe ED by IIEF score reduced to only one patient after treatment. Based on our study we recommend that ADMA must be considered an important marker for erectile dysfunction and generalized vascular disease. Also atorvastatin is an important choice for treatment of erectile dysfunction in both normolipidemic and hyperlipidemic. |
