Abstract This study aimed at developing some writing skills for second year preparatory stage students through using the inquiry- based approach (IBA). To fulfill the purpose of the study, three instruments were administered; a list of writing sub- skills, a writing performance test, and a writing scoring rubric. The study adopted the quasi- experimental design. The sample of the study consisted of 60 students from second year of Nag Al Taweel preparatory school, at Karnak, in Luxor. They were divided into two groups; each comprised thirty students. The control group was taught using the common methods prevailing in teaching writing, while the experimental group was taught using an inquiry- based approach. During experimentation the students were asked to perform inquiry- based writing activities. After experimentation, both groups were tested using the pre-posttest. Findings revealed that an inquiry- based approach is effective in developing some writing skills for preparatory stage. Keywords: Inquiry- Based Approach, Writing Skills. |
