Abstract Tennis elbow is a common annoying problem in physical medicine and rehabilitation out-patient clinics. It is most commonly due to over use of the upper limb and causes pain and disability in middle aged individuals.The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of local injection of PRP on lateral epicondylitis regarding pain and function,evaluate ESWT on lateral epicondylitis regarding pain and function,and to compare the effect of both PRP and ESWT on lateral epicondylitis.This study included 40 patients with tennis elbow, patients were selected from the outpatient clinic of Physical Medicine,Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Department, Faculty of Medicine,Tanta University.All patients were examined with palpation of the extensor origin on the lateral epicondyle, and resisted extension of the wrist.The diagnosis of tennis elbow was considered present if these two examination were painful. Patients were in the form of sixteen house wives, nine nurses, two farmers, two manual workers, seven dressmakers, three employers and a squash player. There were thirty three females (82.5%) and seven males (17.5%) with age ranged 23-67 years. |
