Abstract Lippolysaccharides (which is the main part of the outer shell of gram negative bacteria (causes most of the changes observed are fever, blood shock, increased blood levels, and internal organs, which include liver and acute kidney failure. This study was carried out to evaluate and compare the salts of Cefepime and Tenoxicam for the treatment of fever resulting from injection of LPS The experiments were performed on 100 male rats of body weights between 180-200g. Pyrexia was induced in the rats by injecting 250 μg/kg (LPS) from E.coli IP to the rats. Rectal temperature was measured before the pre injection and at 18 hours after the administration of (LPS) .The rats were divided into five groups:Gp1: treated with physiological saline (-ve), Gp II: treated with LPS (250 μg /kg) once IP daily for 5days (+ve), GpIII:treated with LPS (250μg/kg) and Cefepime (45mg/kgBW) once IM daily for 5days for each,GpIV:treated with LPS (250 μg /kg) Tenoxicam (10 mg/kg BW) once IM daily for 5days for each .GpV: treated with LPS (250 μg/kg) and Cefepime 45 mg/kg BW and Tenoxicam (10 mg/kg BW )once IM daily for 5days for each. On the sixth and sixteenth days, the blood samples were collected The results of this study showed that, through statistical analysis, Tenoxicam therapy has the potential to reduce the temperature of mice, improve blood levels, liver and kidney functions, and the level of cytokines, and increase the signs of oxidative stress compared with Cefepime, and that combined use also has a positive effect on most measurements in comparison with control |
