Abstract

Ovarian cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in the female reproductive system. It has an insidious onset. In approximately70% of all cases of ovarian cancer, the disease is not diagnosed before reaching an advanced stage. The 5-year survival rate is less than 30%. The early diagnosis of ovarian malignant tumor becomes the key factor in improving the survival rate of patients.
The tumor marker CA-l25 has been used for long time for screening, diagnosis and monitoring of ovarian cancer recurrence. Although CA-125 is used in a wide range, its sensitivity as a marker of malignant tumor in early diagnosis of ovarian cancer requires rethinking. In premenopausal women, the specificity of CA-125 is not ideal because of the menstrual cycle, pregnancy and other effects.
The introduction of LPA as a tumor marker has attracted much attention. LPA has shown a sensitivity and specificity of 92.68 and 87.80% respectively for differentiating between types of ovarian masses, which is better than that of CA-125 detection. LPA is highly expressed in ovarian cancer. Consequently, as an ideal tumor marker, LPA has received increased attention.
This study was conducted on 82 patients with ovarian masses (41 females had malignant ovarian tumors and 41 females had benign ovarian tumors diagnosed by clinical, ultrasound and histopathological examination in Shatby Maternity University Hospital.
