Abstract This case-control study was conducted to assess the correlation between maternal Vitamin D levels and gestational Diabetes Mellitus. The study was conducted at Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Suez Canal University Hospital in Ismailia from January 2015 to November 2015 on 40 patients with GDM and 40 controls. The mean age of the studied groups was comparable without any statistically significant differences (p=0.07). There were insignificant differences between cases and controls regarding mean duration of marriage (p=0.82). Positive family history of Hypertension was significantly higher among the control group than among GDM patient group (57.5% versus 12.5%, respectively) (p<0.001). There was a significant difference between patients and controls regarding previous IUFD (44% and 1% respectively), however, there was no statistically significant difference regarding gestational age, gravidity, parity, number of abortions. |
