Abstract EVLA is a safe and effective treatment modality in the treatment of incompetent great and small saphenous veins. With an obsessive approach to all technical steps and patient selection criterion, incidence of adverse events and complication is very low. Although we still need long-term result and strong evidences longer wavelengths and new generation laser fibers seem superior to the shorter wavelengths and bare-tip fibers. Multicenter randomized controlled trials with larger patient volume and standard longterm follow-up protocols are still needed to recommend EVLA technique as golden standard. Clinical success after EVLA is defined as permanent occlusion of the treated vein segments with improvement in clinical syntomat-ology. Complications may include bruising, tightness along the course of the treated vein, recanalization, and paresthesia. Jacket-tip laser fiber, LEED Standardization and Centering the Bare Fiber are very effective to decrease complication to increase Success rates. |
