Abstract

The present studies were conducted in Sohag Region during two successive seasons of 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 to investigate the Arthropods associated with certain solanaceous vegetable plants. Tomato, pepper and eggplant are considered from the most important vegetable crops in Egypt. The Arthropods associated with these crops were surveyed in this study. Also, the population fluctuations of the main insect pests and their associated predators were studied. The effect of certain climatic factors and the associated predators on the population fluctuation of the main insect pests infesting the foremaintioned vegetable crops was determined by simple correlation and multiple regression. Effect of late summer and early summer plantations on the main insect pests infesting tomato, pepper and eggplant plants was investigated. The results obtained could be summarized in the following points.
However, the main results of the present study, came to the conclusion that the cotton whitefly B.tabaci and the potato leafhopper E. decipiense prefer infestation of the eggplant with significant numbers instead of tomato and pepper for both of late summer and early summer plantations.
Therefore, it may suggested that the plantation of eggplant as a plant trap for these pests will be of great interest.
