Abstract The penis in rabbit formed from root, body and free part called pars Libra as the anatomical and histological studies revealed that the free pars Libra represent the some structure of corpora cavernosa. The arterial supply of the penis come from the artery of penis which originated from the internal pudendal artery and divided into deep and dorsal arteries of penis. The penis presents three paired muscles; ischicavernous, bulbospongiosus and retractor penis muscles. The anatomical and histological studies showed absence of the os penis. The penile fibrous skeleton consisted of thick lamellated tunica albuginea and its fibrous columns extending into the erectile tissue constituting penile trabecular system. The smooth muscles were the most abundant component of penile erectile tissue, which oriented in all directions. There are two inguinal glands on both sides of the caudal part of the body of the penis. These glands are superficial and easy to observe with the naked eye. Each pair was composed of white and brown glands. The white gland is small lanticular in shape overlie the cranial end of the brown gland, it considered as sebaceous (Holocrine) gland. The brown gland is large, elongated ,spindle-shaped gland located on the dorsolateral region of the body of penis, it considered as sweat gland. The two glands were separated by connective tissue. |
