Abstract The concrete industries are developed in the last century and new types of concrete are emerged. One of those types is Self-curing concrete. It is a concrete type which doesn’t need any curing processes. This type will be studied in this research. Obtaining self-curing concrete based on using curing agents or porous aggregates which acts as internal water tanks. Super Absorbent Polymers (SAP) is one of these curing agents which will be studied as curing agent to obtain self-curing concrete This research aims to study the structural behavior of reinforced concrete elements cast using different mixes with various ratios of SAP. This experimental program consists of two stages. The first is conducted using different Sap ratios, different surrounded temperature while curing and different methods of curing to obtain the optimum suitable ratios. The second stage is performed to obtain the structural behavior of reinforced concrete slabs cast using the optimum obtained values based on the first stage. The structural behavior is evaluated in terms of; deflection, tensile and compressive strain, cracking and ultimate loads, crack pattern and failure shapes. The main results of this research indicated that using of SAP as a selfcuring agent recording the best results in high temperature degrees and without curing. The best ratio can be used at 40oC is 0.2% as a ratio of cement content, while at 60oC the best ratio is 0.3%. |
