Abstract

This report illustrates a simple description for asphalt storage tanks and focuses on operation and thermal analysis calculations of Thermal oil bath which is a main component inside asphalt storage tanks Use the hot gases of combustion System for heater to raise the temperature of bitumen but not directly and thus it is called “indirect”. It can be described as a double heat exchanger because heat is first transferred from a combustion system to thermal oil and then heat is transferred from thermal oil to bitumen and this mechanism of heat transfer will be illustrated in the report. Thermal analysis calculations for bitumen heating at design conditions for heater are done and results are compared with what is existed in the location.
