Abstract This study was conducted to investigate the toxic effects of the pyrethroidal compound (Deltalarvae®) which is mixture of deltamethrin and tetramethrin on Nile tilapia fish and the role of the natural protector (Lector 50®) against this toxicity. The study started by determination of the LC50/ 96 hr of the compound and then the subchronic toxicity investigation for 60 days started. Haematological, biochemical, histopathological consequences and immunological changes were assayed at the end of experiment. Our results showed that Delta larvae was extremely toxic to fish and there were high levels of the residues in muscles and gills. The study also revealed that the lector 50 has a protective effect against Delta larvae toxicity, improved the healthy status of the intoxicated fish and decrease the residual amounts of the compound in both muscles and gills. |
