Abstract

This work presents experimental investigation on manufacturing a ‎composite pistons from two Aluminum Alloys‎ is : A-alloy A336 (Al-‎‎12Si-1Cu-1Mg-2Ni) locally at the ‎piston skirt and B-alloy ‎A242 ‎( Al- ‎‎4Cu-2Ni-1.5Mg ) locally at the piston crown . I.e., each ‎alloy ‎form zone ‎in the piston , within the standard specifications. The effects of various ‎technique parameters are the ‎pouring temperature of the alloys inside ‎the the mold casting, the rotation speed of the ‎mold casting and ‎difference casting methods, which are two methods : Centrifugal and ‎Permanent casting methods. a study The effects of various parameters ‎mentioned above on The mechanical properties , such as hardness ‎and ‎wear, were measured. The results showed that , centrifugal casting ‎process can be ‎used as a new and effective method in manufacturing ‎pistons compared with the Permanent casting process. ‎reasonable ‎parameters were rotation speed ‎mold casting 40 rpm and ‎the ‎pouring temperature alloys 740 C. Average hardness values ‎improved in the two piston zone (skirt ,crown) using centrifugal casting ‎process, increases with increasing rotational ‎speed mold and decreases ‎with increasing pouring ‎temperature in the Both of two casting methods. The maximum hardness value when the skirt piston (126.5 HV) and ‎the maximum hardness value when the crown piston (118.25 HV). ‎Weight Loss ratio improved in the two piston zone (skirt ,crown) using ‎centrifugal casting process, decreases with increasing rotational ‎speed ‎mold and increases with increasing pouring ‎temperature in the Both of ‎two casting methods. minimum Weight Loss value when the skirt ‎piston (0.0081)
