Abstract

1. Peel Peanuts Activated Carbon ( PAC) can be used for removing of dyes from industrial wastewater. Besides the textile industries, soap manufacturing industries, vegetable oil nulls and the water and sewerage corporation can also be sensitized to use this commodity thereby creating more market for the product.
2. PPAC was effective, for which the removal reached 98% MB at 30C,
3. Adsorption of MB was highly Ph- dependent and the results showed that the optimum PH for the removal was found to be (6-8), at which MB exists mostly as the most easily adsorbed from aqueous solution,
4. Adsorption of MB increases as the initial MB concentration,
5. The percentage removal of MB increase with smaller adsorbate particales.
6. Adsorption of MB on PPAC fits the BET model, with correlation factor= 0.936 corroborating the assumption of that the adsorbate molecules could be adsorbed in more than one layer thick on the surface of the adsorbent.
7. Investigation of the obtained values of the thermodynamic parameters shows that the adsorption process is endothermic. This is in accordance with increasing adsorption rate with increasing temperature.
8. Finally from the above PPAC can be used as effective adsorbent for the dyes in industrial wastewater,
