Abstract Patient advocacy is considered to be an important in the climate of today’s health care delivery system that can improve patient care and safety by identifying poor care and incompetent health care workers as well as demonstrates actions that represent and protect patients’ rights, best interests and values. The role of patient advocacy is becoming increasingly more imperative for registered nurses, as they are in a unique position in healthcare system and have the most contact with patients as well as may help patients to clarify the objectives of their treatment in making health related decisions. However, registered nurses advocate for patients, they may face certain risks and obstacles associated with the settings within which they work so, there is always the possibility that attempts to advocate for a patient can fail. |
