Abstract A research study was initiated to use UV irradiation for obtaining anew mutant of Pleurotus with better characteristics, higher yield and productivity - UV irradiation had an inductive effect on growth of P. columbinus yielding three new mutants (R10, R20, R30). - The three new mutants are more tolerant to higher temperatures, more efficient in poly R decolorization , ligninolytic and cellulolytic enzyme production than parent stain. -R20 mutant gained the best improvement prosperities; it had shorter crop cycle, earlier flushing, higher yield, biological efficiency and lighter colored, low spored fruit bodies. - R20 posses higher nutritional contents, higher vitamin D2 production, higher antioxidant contents, which make it better for commercial production , human consumption. - The RAPD-PCR analysis showed that three UV mutants were genetically different from parent, R20 had the most genetically Polymorphism. |
