Abstract

To compare between occlusally approaching clasp, gingivally
approaching clasp and wrought wire clasp as a direct retainers for
partially edentulous model for lower Kennedy class I was used with using
dental implant distally.
Upon which two skeletons were constructed. The components of the two
skeletons were the same expect the direct retainer which was, occlusally
approaching clasp for the first skeleton, gingivally approaching clasp for
the second skeleton which will replaced by the wrought wire clasp.
Strain gauge analysis method was used to carry out this study.
Static vertical tissue ward load of 10kg (100N) was applied on the
abutment teeth on the both side.
The stress induced in the abutment teeth were recorded in each
simulation. The data were collected and tabulated to compare between
the three clasp systems tasted in this study.
The results revealed that no difference was found between occlusally
approaching clasp, gingivally approaching clasp and wrought wire clasp
regarding the stress induced in the abutment teeth.
