Abstract This comparative Cross sectional study was carried out at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital between March 2015 and September 2015. Aim of the study assess the accuracy of the use of IGFBP-1 in prediction of Preterm Premature rupture of membranes in comparison ? A total of ninety pregnant women between 28 -36 weeks of gestation were included in the study wih Mean (±SD) of age 29.5±3.6, as regards parity 32.2 & of the patients were PG, 67.8% were Multipara, mean SD of BMI was 29.1±1.6, and mean SD of gestational age 32.0±1.7 All subjects were provided all information about the purpose of the study and the method of sample collection. - At admission all women underwent sterile Cusco speculum examination for confirmation of amniotic fluid pooling. - After approval of local ethics committee, oral informed consents and exclusion of bloody discharge in the vaginal. - Two sterile swabs will be used to collect the samples from the posterior vaginal fornix after insertion of the speculum (the swabs should not touch the vaginal wall during insertion or during removal). - The parameters (maternal age, gestational age ) were also documented. This study showed no statistically significant differences regarding: maternal age, parity and gestational age at recruitment. In this study, the IGFBP-1 (Actim PROM test ) was more sensitive and specific in daignosing rupture of membranes than Nitrazin test. the sensitivity and the specificity of IGFBP-1 (Actim PROM test ) in diagnosing PROM was 89.7% and 86.9 % respectively as compared to Nitrazine test which was 75.9% and 82.0%. The PPV and NPV of IGFBP-1 were 76.5% and 94.6% as compared to Nitrazine test which were 66.7% and 87.7 %. |
