Abstract Vibriosis is considered the most important threatening disease problem facing aquaculture specially Mugil capito (Liza ramada) . A total of 319 Mugil capito were obtained from El-Serw fish farm (EL-Dakahlia Governorate) and El-Ratama fish farm (Damietta Governorate) throughout the period from (January 2014 to January 2015). Fish used for further microbiological examinations for isolation, characterization of Vibrio species, pathogenicity of bacterial isolates affecting fish, histopathological alteration and molecular diagnosis. The result of these studies was summarized as follows:- 1. The common clinical signs in examined fish were mass mortalities in the farm, hemorrhages on several parts of body surface, mouth, base of fins, abdomen, opercula, around anal opening and darkness of skin, fryed fins and detached scales. 2. Post mortem findings revealed that pale enlarged liver with hemorrhage on its edge, congestion of kidney and spleen, the gills were congested with excessive amount of mucous, enlarged gall bladder and ascetic fluid in the abdominal cavity. 3. The conventional diagnostic methods showed that, the isolated bacteria on tryptic soya agar (TSA) with 2% NaCl at 25 oC for 24 hour gave circular creamy colored colonies. On thiosulfate citrate bile salt sucrose agar (TCBS) at 25 oC for 24 hour gave yellow colonies for Vibrio alginolyticus and gave green colonies for Vibrio parahemolyticus. |
