Abstract The Balanced Scorecard has been the subject for numerous studies and papers since it first saw light in 1992. This thesis aims to add a deeper understanding of the practice of the Balanced Scorecard by focusing on the role of the Balanced Scorecard in performance management, this thesis presents and discusses deeply the use of third generation balanced scorecard by covering the questions why, what, and how. This thesis provides an extensive overview of the practical reality of the Balanced Scorecard in the context of HSE strategic management in the oil & gas drilling industry which aims to have reliable accident free operations. |
