The dissertation consists of five chapters beside the introduction, the conclusion, the indexes and the list of sources and references, included provided a prelude, then specifically astronomer of the study area, then a presentation of the most important previous studies and the study’s problem and the importance of study. And objectives of the study and the reasons for choosing the subject, the hypothesis of the study and the difficulties faced the student, and the study approaches and methods. and the stages of preparation of research and sources of information and finally the contents of the study. The first chapter discusses : general geographical features of the city of Erbil where the interest to study the natural properties, including the location and placement, terrain, climate, water resources, soil . either human characteristics included the population, urbanization, and economic activities. The second chapter discusses : geographical factors affecting land use in Erbil. included services and patterns, land prices, transport roads, government policy, average incomes and spending, and capital investments. The third chapter allocated : patterns of land use changes between 2003 to 2013 AD Included economic use which include commercial use, industrial use, transport uses, either the use of the service, and had taken up to the educational use, health use, the entertainment use and the use of administrative. The fourth chapter clarify : the geographical assessment of land use in Erbil, and involved under it each of the following themes : evaluation of the spatial distribution and areal, and estimate the relationship between population growth and land use and evaluate the efficiency of the service and a map of land prices in Erbil in 2013 AD. And finally concluded chapters look toward the future in chapter five, therefore chapter title (the future land use in Erbil) and has included four axes : an assessment of future needs for services in Erbil and planning services and facilities in Erbil and the problems of economic development of land use and the suggested methods to raising the efficiency of service. And appended to the study conclusion dealt with the most important results and recommendations supposed to be followed for the advancement of the uses of the land in the study area, then ended by the sources and references, followed by Arabic and English summary.
