Abstract The present work is assigned to study the corrosion behavior of Copper-Zinc alloy in 1 M HNO3 solution and the inhibiting effect of some essential oils. The obtained results showed that the inhibition efficiency of these oils increased by increasing their concentrations and decreases by increasing the temperature, so that the adsorption of these oils on Copper-Zinc alloy surface is physical and the adsorption of these oils on Copper-Zinc alloy surface in 1 M HNO3 follows Temkin adsorption isotherm. Some thermodynamic parameters are computed and discussed. Weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization technique was used as a second method to study the inhibiting effect of the investigated oils. Also, impedance spectroscopy measurements, electrochemical frequency modulation measurements and surface examination were done. The obtained results from different techniques were in good agreements. |
