المستخلص

Many orientalist studies presuppose many influences on the cultural and epistemological
environment of prophet Mohammed (PBUH), most notably the olden Arab heathen, Jewish and
Christian influences.
Many orientalists claim that the ancient Arab heathenism, Judaism and christianity are
the main sources which provided Islam with its narrative, jurisprudence, and language best
exemplified in the Holy Quran which Mohammed (PBUH), as they claim, made up. In this context, some
orientalists believe that Judaism is the most crucial source.
This study tackles these suppositions, claims, and
Hebrew orientalism allegations in this matter specifically.
The study is entitled:
Cultural Tributaries of the Prophet of Islam
In Light of Hebrew Works Written by the Jewish Orientalists
An Analytical and Critical Study
The study includes an introduction, a preface, three chapters, and a conclusion.
The introduction introduces the study, its sections, significance, objectives, the approach adopted
and the difficulties met during the study.
In the preface, the study analyzes the approach of orientalists in the field of Islamic studies,
disclosing the methodological failures of these writings.
Chapter one is entitled:
Suit Cultural Tributaries of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH)
- roots and evolution
This chapter is rooting for the issue studied, and keep track of the history of quotation Mohammed
suit (PBUH) of the books of the Jews and the christians since their
appearance in Mecca, and evolution at the hands of polemicists christians Easterners, and then
move to Europe to thrive under christian hostility to Islam in the period of the Crusades and
beyond. Orientalism developed these polemics, at a later stage, to academic studies.
Chapter two is entitled:
Perception of Hebrew Orientalism to the Prophecy of
Mohammed (PBUH)
In this chapter, the study discusses the perception of
Hebrew orientalism to the prophecy of prophet
Mohammed (PBUH), interpretations of Jewish Orientalists of the Mohammadan revelation as a case
of epilepsy, and their suppositions that there had been Jewish and christian influences on
the cultural and epistemological environment of prophet Mohammed (PBUH), and their perceptions
about how the occurrence of such supposed influence. The purpose of all these is to cast doubts on
the Mohammadan message and prove the prophecy to be false. Therefore, it stands to reason, for
them, to look into the tributaries from which prophet Mohammed (PBUH) extracted his knowledge
and religious culture.
Chapter three is entitled:
Perception of Hebrew Orientalism to the Tributaries of Mohammadan religious culture
In this chapter, the study tackles opinions of Jewish orientalists in Hebrew works, with regard to
the different sources which these Studies claim that Mohammed (PBUH) extracts his religious
knowledge and culture from it.
Then comes the conclusion which includes the most important findings of the study; most notably
that some Hebrew orientalist studies were not objective in terms of comparing Judaism to Islam
since they sought to prove the so-called Jewish influence on Islam.
