Abstract INTRODUCTION of the complete behaviour of reinforced concrete members under static and dynamic loading is of prim importance in structural concrete research and construction. Energy absorpation and moment - rotation capacities of both isolated and framed reinforced concrete members are important factors that must be ascertained. Because of the complexities involved in formulating rational analytical solutions, most of the research on reinforced concrete has been based on empirical approaches. Results from extensive experimental programes have been used to develop methods of analysis and design. While such an approach may have been necessary in the past, the advent of digital computers and modern computer methods, now provide the necessary tools that may properly account for the path dependent nature of reinforced concrete members and can replace much of the laboratory testing carried out in the past. However, such analytical solutions must still be checked against a selected, but smaller, number of experimental tests to verify their accuracy. This study aimed to obtaining the behaviour of beamcolumn connections in case of beam wider - 1 than column in |
