Abstract

The present work was carried out during the two successive seasons of 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 at Floriculture Nursery, Faculty of Agriculture, Minia University to study the effect of four levels of compost, 0, 5.0, 7.5 and 10 ton/fed. (factor A) and eight treatments, Effective microorganisms (E.M. at 50 ml/plant), salicylic acid (S.A. at 150 ppm), alpha-tocopherol (vit. E at 20 ppm), E.M. + S.A., E.M. + vit. E, S.A. + vit. E, E.M. + S.A. + vit. E and control (factor B) and their
interactions (A×B) on the vegetative growth, yield and yield components,
as well as, active ingredients and some chemical constituents of Ammi visnaga, L. plants. The obtained results could be summarized as follows :
1-Effect of compost fertilization :
A- Vegetative growth traits :
All vegetative growth traits of Ammi visnagin, L. plants namely,
plant height, stem diameter, number of branches/plant and herb dry
weight per plant significantly promoted by fertilizing khilla plants with
compost at 5, 7.5 and 10 ton/fed. compared with unfertilized control
plants, the increment in vegetative growth aspects was parallel with the
gradual increase in compost level, therefore, high level of compost (10
ton/fed.) was the most effective treatment. A- Yield and its components :
Application of compost at the three examined levels (5, 7.5 and 10
ton/fed.) significantly improved yield components of khilla plants namely, number of umbels/plant, number of umbellules/umbel and fruit yield/plant and /fed. in comparison with control. The best results regarding yield components of khilla plants was obtained due to high level of compost treatment.
