Abstract Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the ionic toothbrush on plaque removal compared to the electric and manual toothbrushes using plaque and gingival indices. Materials and methods: Subjects and methods: 20 girls were selected in the age group of 11-13 years. Each of the subjects was provided by a manual toothbrush (Oral B classic), electric toothbrush (Oral-B Cross- Action Power) and active ionic toothbrush (dr Tung’s HyG), and Signal 2 toothpaste with explanation and demonstration of the method to use each toothbrush. Plaque and gingival indices were assessed before the study and on a weekly basis for each toothbrush stage for three weeks, with a wash out period of one week separating between each stage. |
