Abstract

CHD patients are susceptible to a lot of complications. GI bleeding is one of the most serious and important complications in these CHD patients result from many contributing factors like chronic uremia, stress and drugs. Occult bleeding is a hidden blood in the stool which can be detected by FOBT and/or IDA making the CHD patients more Burdened by the disease either by required repeated blood transfusion or fatigue due to persistent IDA or it may deteriorate to catastrophic overt GI bleeding. In the published literature, there is a few data on the occult bleeding in patients with end stage renal failure especially in Egypt, and data discuss characters and distributions of these occult bleeding GI lesions are limited. This led us to submit the present study which is concerned with assess the magnitude of occult GI bleeding in CHD patients. Moreover we analyze type, site and lesions accused in this bleeding.
