Abstract Central vestibular dysfunction is not a rare medical condition. One of the most common causes is: migraine, vertebrobasilar insufficiency and multiple sclerosis. Its criteria of diagnosis depend on history and examination as regards: the duration, the periodicity, and the circumstance of the vertigo and the presence of other neurological and auditory signs or symptoms. Although the epidemiology of vertigo and vestibular disorders is still an underdeveloped field. Recent studies have underscored the impact of vertigo at the population level.Our study is Database study to provide actual data of incidence of central vestibular dysfunction at otolaryngology department, Ain Shams University. Data was collected from 80 patients with vertigo in the three units of the department.A Data collection sheet was used for each patient; to record the relevant data. Data analysis was performed utilizing Microsoft Excel as software, to provide actual data and to show the relation between certain items and the final outcome. The incidence in our study was about 23%. MRI and VNG combination is essential in diagnosis of central vestibular dysfunction was the recommendation of our study to avoid missing a great percentage of people passed undiagnosed. |
