Abstract

the present study was conducted on severity two buffalo cows having upto 8 years of age and 4 previous parturitions and suffering from anaestrum upto one year after calving. animals were divided into five groups treated as follows : Group 1 : (n=12) injected with 3m1 PGF2alpha (Prosolvin) i-m for each animal in a first dose followed by a second dose with 11 days apart, if heat failed to come after the first one. Group 2 : (n=16) treated by the amino acid L-tyrosine in a single oral dose 100 mg/kg body weight. Group 3 : (n.16) treated by the herbal biotonus (Reproton) orally in a first dose of 40 gm mixed with molasses as electuary followed by second dose with 11 days apart, if heat failed to come after the first dose. Group 4 : (n=16) treated by the herbal biotonus (Reproton)+ mineral mixture orally in a first dose of 40 gm (Reproton)+40 gm mineral mixture given with molasses as electuary followed by second dose with 11 days apart, if heat failed to come after the first dose. Group 5 : (n.12) treated by (Reproton) (40 gm) +prosolvin (3m1) in a first dose repeated after 11 days interval from the first in absence of heat. The rate of heat response, time to heat after treatment, the rate of conception and number of service/conception were estimated for different treatment groups in relation to frequency of administration, age of the animal, number of parities and length of the anaestrous period. Data obtained were tabulated and statistically analysed. The present results came as follows : 1-The highest rate of response came with buffalo cows ® treated by (Reprot on) + PGF2alpha (83.33%) when compared to those treated by tyrosine (75.00%), (Reproton)(75.00%), (Reproton) + MM (75.00%), while the lowest rate appeared in buffalo cows treated by PGF2alpha alone (66.67%). 2-The time elapsed from treatment to onset of heat appeared significantly longer for buffalo cows treated by tyrosine (14.83 ± 2.54 days) than those treated by (Reproton)(6.83 + 0.31 days), (Reproton) + MM (8.50 + 0.76 days) while shorter times appeared for buffalo cows treated by (Reproton) + PGF2
alpha (2.60 ± 0.27 days) and PGF2alpha alone (3.30 ± 0.22 days). 3-The rate of conception in the present study appeared lower in case of buffalo cows treated by PGF2alpha (50.00%) and tyrosine (50.00%) when compared to those treated by (Reproton) (66.67%), (Reproto® n) MM (66.67%) and (Reproton)+ PGF2alpha (60.00%). 4- The number of service/conception appeared lower for
® buffalo cows treated by (Reproton) (1.20 ± 0.20) and
® (Reproton) + PGF2alpha (1.25 ± 0.25) when compared to
those treated by PGF2alpha (1.50 + 0.29), tyrosine (1.40 + 0.24) and (Reproton) + MM (1.33 + 0.21).
