Abstract This work aims to perform wall tiles for -ray and neutron attenuation through radiotherapy shelter room to protect patients and employee. It was found that 20% lead oxide (Pb3O4) is the maximum present finally mixed with epoxy preserving good hardness, in addition, different ratios of micro-particles lithium borate were finally mixed with epoxy before hardener adding. It was found that the optimal percent of lithium borate have to be added to the epoxy was found to be 20% that preserving high mechanical properties (hardness) . Thermal gravimetric analysis behavior proved the availability of such composites through wide range of temperature. Morphological structure showed homogenous pattern of the composite. Electrical conductivity illustrated very small changes with high dose of gamma irradiation reached to 200 kilo Gray that approved their stability against irradiation while it increased dramatically by raising the dose to 500 kGy. |
