Abstract The research described in this thesis is concerned with the reliability evaluation of the generating capacity of the IEEE Reliability Test System. It also outline some of the restrctions which currently exist in the generation data of this system such as unit (partial output) states, load forecast uncertainty, unit schedual maintenance and the effect of interconnection between two systes. This thesis enhances the RTS by alleviating these restrictions and including more factors and system conditions which may be included the reliability evaluation of generating systems. These enhancements create a wider set of consitent data. The thesis also includes generation reliability indices such as loss of load expectation (LOLE) and loss of energy expectation (LOEE) for the base and enhanced Reliability Test System. These indices have been evaluated without any approximations and therefore provide a set of generally accurate indices againest which the result from alternative and approximate methods can be compared. |
