Abstract The study of the quark-quark interactions gives us information about the nature of the interaction forces inside hadrons. The experimental data of the resonance masses in case of mesons and baryons helps us to suggest the suitable potential forms. This work deals with the study of the eigen-value problem in case of the three quark systems (baryons). A new simple phenomenological potential form is suggested to calculate the resonance masses of baryons. The baryons which are considered in this work are N, Δ, Λ and Σ. The suggested potential form contains three free parameters. The experimental data are used to adjust the potential parameters and quark masses through the 𝜒2-test. A comparison between the present calculations and the previous theoretical works with the experimental data are given. from this study one notices that, the used potential form gives a better agreement with the experimental data more than the previous works, in case of all considered systems. This thesis contains three chapters and five appendices. In chapter (1), a brief description about the discovery of elementary particles, its general properties, and a general introduction about the strong and electro- magnetic interactions. The quantum chromodynamics (QCD), quantum electrodynamics (QED) and the quark model are described. Also, reviews of previous works are given. The non-relativistic wave equation, for a system consists of three non-identical particles using the new suggested potential, is |
