Abstract lntraabdominal adhesions constitute a significant cause of post operative lity. The main causes of intra peritoneal adhesions are congenital, inflammatory flJst operative adhesions. Adhesions may present with chronic abdominal pain, infertility and intestinal ction. The present study was undertaken to compare open and laparoscopic iolysis in management of ASBO The study included thirty patients admitted to Minia university hospital; all were subjected to the following: 1- history taking 2- clinical examination 3- routine laboratory investigations 4- radiological investigations Abdominal X- ray plain erect. Abdominal ultrasonographic studies. tients were classified in two groups Fifteen patients with adhesive intestinal obstruction underwent laparotomy up I), while fifteen patients underwent laparoscopic adhesiolysis (group 2). The results of this study can be summarized in the following points: - There were statistically significant difference between the two groups as ards the return of bowel motility as well as in the hospital stay; laparoscopic group superior to the laparotomy group in both ofthem. Summary and conclusion - There was no statistically significant difference between both group as regards the operative time, post operative complications and recurrence rate. We recommended the safety and feasibility of laparoscopic adhesiolysis as compared with open adhesiolysis provided that it will be performed by a skilled surgeon, and by using a meticulous a traumatic surgical technique and by decreasing the conversion rate as conversion itself increases the post operative morbidity. The magnitude of the problem highlights the need to perform more studies to compare both techniques and to evaluate laparoscopic adhesiolysis to increase its safety and effectiveness. |
