Abstract The experimental investigations carried out in this research were conducted to study the influence of the corrosion on behavior of reinforced self- compacting concrete girders. The experimental work carried out in this thesis was extended also to investigate the effect of concrete strength and type of steel reinforcement on the behavior of reinforced (SCC) girders under accelerated corrosion mechanism. Two reinforced concrete beam specimens are used in this study to investigate the effect of corrosion of reinforcing bar caused by chlorides under loading in the same time on the behavior of tested beams. The conclusions in this thesis obtained are based on the experimental results and the observations supported with the analytical analysis. The main conclusions of the study together with the suggestions for further work are presented in.the following sections. 6.2 Deformation and Structural performance In general, the corrosion could affect the reinforcement ductility and consequently the beam’s ductility cast with SCC. The ductility of the beams is reduced by corrosion with greater reduction occurring with larger levels of corrosion about 40% of ductility of control beam. from the results, it is seen that the increase in the corrosion ratio resulted in corresponding increase in deflection for beams cast with SCC at the same |
