المستخلص World desert areas, particularly in the Arab world, are extremely environmentally sensitive to human activities. Also, they are environmentally classified as limited-resources fragile areas. Desert development represents a challenge to Egypt, due to the unique conditions prevailing in the desert. Desert environment differs from that of a valley. Each has its on peculiar nature and characteristics: altitude, scarcity of water resources (rainwater, groundwater), soil properties, flora, and the extreme sensitivity of the ecological desert system with its delicate balances. Resorting to natural means, in addressing climatic conditions for achieving comfort, is one of the positive trends for environmental adaptation. One such trend is using green areas as an approach for upgrading the environmental performance of desert urban agglomerations. The problem of this study is to identify the plants most appropriate for desert areas; Which are implicitly different from plants grown in other areas. This because plants must be in harmony with the surroundings as to extreme temperatures in summer, drought accompanied by stormy winds carrying sand and dust, as well as the scarcity of water used for irrigation. |
