Abstract

This thesis presents a study the power factor and its impacts on distribution of electric power networks, in addition to remove the effects of low power factor on the network and applied mathematical method using equations known to improve the power factor and applied MATLAB program to determine the shunt capacitor size and sensitive nodes in the network and know the size needed for the purpose of improving power factor. By taking two networks, the first nine nodes and the second twenty two nodes, and apply the Fuzzy logic technique on the networks. The result performance of the electrical network known, improve the power factor, and control adding shunt capacitor in the exact locations as needed to improve the voltage profile and reduces power losses.
Introduces general review for Fuzzy logic technique and apply it on the two networks ,then select the optimal locations and size of shunt capacitor based on rule base and member ship function required to operate the Fuzzy logic technique. This results in finding best economical costs saving, and speeding the work, for possible on- line implementation in distribution networks.
