Abstract an experimental study is carried out on the use of vortex generators to control flow separation in a two-dimensional asymmetric diffuser, in wich inlet air flow is sinusoidally oscillating. turbulent boundary layer flow over the vortex generators is employed with values of reynolds number at inlet section of the diffuser of 1*10, 3*10 and 5*10. the working section ( asymmetrical two-dimensional flat walled wide angled diffuser, 0=15) on wich the experiments were carried out, has rectangular cross sections of 0.3m*0.3m )at inlet and(0.3m*0.75m)( at exit with 1.8m long.the working section is divided into eight locations in the stream-wise direction in order to detect the entire flow field. mappings of the oscillatory response were made by a constant temperature hot wire anemometer of multi-channel CTA 54N 80/81.the output signals were processed on-line by a laboratory computer to obtain the phase average values of the unsteady velocity field. six different shapes of vortex generators producing different velocity perturbation amplitudes were employed for the control separation at different reynolds numbers. |
