المستخلص Wood belongs to the organic materials group of antiquities. This group is very sensitive to damage and ravages on the one hand, and to the methods of treatment and conservation on the other hand. This is due to the extent to which that type of antiquities is liable to be affected, interact and respond to the surrounding external stimuli. As an organic hygroscopic material, wood can be easily affected with different factors of damage. Therefore, it is subject to different manifestations of damage. This study attempts to tackle one of the various manifestations of damage that affects archaeological wood which is the cracks or the missing parts, because this damage is caused by several factors. In addition, the completion and consolidation of this damage, gives the antiquity a strong static form which enables it to stay for long. And this is the core of the science of Restoration, namely, the preservation of antiquities for longer periods. |
