Abstract
Studies on house sparrow were carried out in Shandaweel Researoh Station. The results ot bese studies can be sumzaarised as fo11ows
Life cycle of the house sparrow under natural coz±tion:
1— Egg laying began in March and ended in July in both year 197’l- and 1975.
2- Most of the clutches during these two years were recorded in the 2nd half of March and April.
3— The breeding season of 1974 could be divided into
4 breeding periods. The first one lasted from March, l to April 10. The second breeding period was from April 15 to Mai 10. The third one lasted from May 15
to Juno 10. Tl ±ourth one was fztm Ju. 15 to July 23.
4— Sjjnilar trends with 4 breedins periods were also found in tbe year 1925.
5— In years 1974 and 1975, it was found that 73 and 67 nests were aoozp1ted respectively. Of the whole nests 67.1 end 68.66% contained 4 olutoh.es in these two years respectively. Only 26.03% and 25.37% of the whole nests contained 3 clutches. In liraited numbers of nests (6.85 and 5.97% of the whole nests) five clutches were found.
