Abstract Nurse administrators face increasing professional responsibilities. They are expected to act out various roles; interpersonal, informative, and decisional. The daily working lives of many nurse administrators calls for they to deal with situations involving a high level of work stress as a routine matter. Unfortunately, these nurses may suffer from feelings of hopelessness. powerlessness, and dissatisfaction accompanied by decreased ability to function and decreased intent to stay in their work. Therefore it was felt necessary to study the problem of burnout among nurse administrators trying to find out the levels of occupational stress and its relation to organizational commitment. The present study was conducted in an attempt to assess the degree of burnout and organizational commitment among nurse administrators working in Assiut University Hospital, and to explore the relationship between occupational stress and organizational commitment. |
