Abstract

This research is designed to study the effcts of $tGrillg Drosophila melanogaster male .germ cells on the spontaneous and induced sex—linked and second. chrooosie lethal mutations. Three different storage periods ,6, and 9 days were used. Adult males 3 days old were irradiated with 2352 r units of x—rays.
The Muller’.5 (M—5), ar.c1 the curly Lobe (Gy/L methods
were used for the determination of the mutation Dates for sex—linked and second chromosome lethals respectjvl.
In the present study the results suggest that :
1’. The frequency of the spontaneous recessive sex—linked lethal mutations are very much the same and are not different statistically for different storage periods, or when compared with the unstored.
2- x..ray induced sex—linked lethal mutations na increasc slightly after storing irradiated male germ cells in untreated females for 3,6, and 9 days, the difference are however not statistically significant.
