Abstract The present study was devoted to determine the change in kidney and liver function parameters as well as minerals, protein profile, lipids, oxidative stress marker, plasma vitamin C level and serum troponin I with CRF patients before and after hemodialysis (HD). For these purpose, ESRD patients were categorized into four equal groups, group I (control group), group 11 (patients treated with Vit C), group III (patients with CVD), and group IV (patients with CVD and treated with Vit C). It was concluded that the HD was not able alone to restore all tested parameters to their normal levels, it increases the oxidative stress and accompanied by loss of Vit C. Therefore, it is recommended to treat the ESRD patients with twice daily dose of 500mg Vit C for one month or more in accompany with HD in order to obtain a good recovery, and troponin should be measured as an early marker to detect such complications that could be also overcome by Vit C supplementation. |
