Abstract

The prince, who was purely from royal blood (royal parents, the heir to the throne. He has all right to ascend the throne without any restitame, providing that there are no struggles or competitions from other branches of the royal family.
Any king who did not have the legal right to ascend the throne tried to find the way to prove that his accession to the throne was right. This research will indicate the role of the priests, and the role of the royal queens in legitimizing dus accession. The researcher will refer to the kings who started their life as administration persons, then they became kings.
This research is titled ”Untraditional Circumstances of the Kings Accession to the Throne of Egypt till the End of the New Kingdom”. Every non-royal figure who ascended the throne recorded his political propaganda on a papyrus, in a text, on a scene, on a statue or on any archaeological object that will be taken as a proof for their accession, which will be the focus on my study.
The researcher will study the origin of the kings, their families (parentage), and their life before ascending the throne. The researcher followed the sequence of the kings of every dynasty from king Narmer to king Ramses XI to realize how the throne was transferred from one king to the other.
My thesis will be divided into four chapters, conclusion, bibliography, and index.

The chapter will deal with the kings from the Second Intermediate Period to the end of the New Kingdom to determine the kings who ascended the throne in untraditiona ways.
Chapter Four is titled Analytic studies of the untraditional circumstances of the kings accession to the throne of Egypt till the end of the New Kingdom. In this section, the researcher will compare between the cases of every method, in order to set the similarities or differences between them.
The study mainly depended on the historical sources and references as follows:
R. David and Antony E, A Bibliographical Dictionary of Ancient Egypt. Seaby, London, 1992.
* A. Dodson and D. Hilton, The Complete Royal Families of Ancient Egypt. American University Press, Cairo, 2004.
I. Edwards, The Cambridge Ancient History. Vol. 2 / Part. 1 and 2. Cambridge University Press, Great Britain, 1975.
A. Gardiner, Egypt of the Pharaohs. Oxford University Press, Great Britain, 1961.
* N. Grimal, A History of Ancient Egypt. Translated by Ian Shaw. Blackwell, United Kingdom, 1992.
* D. Redford, The Oxford Encyclopedia of Ancient Egypt. 3 Vols. American
University Press, Cairo, 2001.
M. Rice, Who’s Who in Ancient Egypt?. Routledge, London, 1999.
1. Shaw, The Oxford History of Ancient Egypt. Oxford University Press, New York, 2000.
2. J. Tyldesley, The Complete Queens of Egypt from Early Dynastic Time to the Death of Cleopatra. American University Press, Cairo, 2006.
The problems which faced the researcher:
1. The few information about the kings of the Archaic Period, the First and the Second Intermediate Periods. Therefore it is difficult to determine exactly the circumstances of the accession of these kings to the throne.
2. The few archaeological evidence of the accessions of some kings.
