المستخلص

Adenomyosis is a common gynecologic disorder that primarily affects women of reproductive age that has reported incidence of 5-70 % in surgical and postmortem specimens.
The clinical presentation of adenomyosis is the parous, perimenopausal patient with dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia.
Physical examination may reveal an enlarged, tender uterus, but the diagnosis has been difficult to obtain without histologic confirmation.
Transvaginal ultrasound is a highly accurate noninvasive modality for
diagnosis of adenomyosis improving the preoperative diagnosis of adenomyosis and preventing unnecessary surgery.
