Abstract
Nephrotic syndrome is applicable to any condition with heavy proteinuria, hypoproteinaemia, generalized edema and hyperli-pidaemia. It is a common chronic childhood disorder. The main aim of treatment is to induce and maintain a remission as well as maintain good lifestyle for the patient and avoid adverse effects of the disease and therapy.
Corticosteroids remain the mainstay of treatment and in resistant cases the use of many immunosuppressive agents with different protocols have been tried. Foremost is knowing the main side effects and monitoring of these drugs to avoid hazardous complications.
