Abstract
We can extract the following points from the present investigation :
1-The vegetative growth behivour was improved and both of yield and its components were increased by planting faba bean on ridges.B ut, the differences between the two planting methods were not significant through the two years of study.
2-Sakha 2 faba bean cultivars performed better than Sakha 1 and Giza 843 cultivars in dry weights of root, shooots, leaves and reproductive organs per plant as well as total plant dry weight, while it recorded intermediate values of yield and yield components.However Sakha 1 cultivars recorded taller plants and more branches /plant than Sakha 2 and Giza 843 cultivars.
3-Increasing plant density up to 40/m2 significantly increased plant height as well as seed and straw yields per fed, while dry weights of root, shooots, leaves and reproductive organs per plant as well as total plant dry weight decreased.Number of branches, pods and seeds per plant as well as number of seeds per pod , seed weight per plant, 100-seed weight and harvest index increased with decreasing plant population density.
