Abstract
The main results of this study could be summerized as follow :
1-The vegetative growth behaviour was improved and both of yield and its components were increasded by planting faba bean on ridges, but the differences between the two planting methods was not significant through the two years of study.
2-Sakha 2 faba bean performed better than Sakha 1 and Giza 843 cultivars in dry weights of weight, shoots, leaves and reproductive organs per plant as well as total plant dry weight, while it recorded intermediate values of yield and yield components.However Sakha 1 cultivars recorded taller plants and more branches /plant than Sakha 2 and Giza 843 cultivars.
3-Increasing plant density up to 40plants/m2 significantle increased plant height as well as seed and straw yields per fed, while dry weights of roots, shoots, leaves and reproductive organs per plant as well as total plant dry weight decreased.Number of branches, pods and seeds per plant as well as number of seeds per pod, seed weight per plant ,100- seed weight and harvest increased with decreasing plant population density.
