Abstract

from the previous studies, it was clear that high performance concrete of high compressive strength has high drying shrinkage. This study was performed to determine characteristics of high performance concrete and studying the possibility of drying shrinkage reduction. The study includes five chapters-summarized as follows;
Chapter One:
Introduces and defines high performance concrete.
Chapter Two:
Summarizes all subjects related to high performance concrete study in terms of used materials, curing, micro structure characteristics, fresh concrete characteristics; shrinkage and creep.
Chapter Three:
Relates to experimental ;program used in the study
perimePW:-- grarn and f chara cteristics of material
including cement,,,.dolomite, sanO, silica fume, chemical addition and shrinkage reduction 2- Content of shrinkage reducing admixture where propylene Glycol was used at 0.5, 1 and 1.5% of the cement weight ight and’polypropylene Fibers was used at 0.9 Kgm/m3 of concrete and Addi Grout was used at 0.45% of cement weight Effects of shrinkage reducing admixture on cement paste characteristics, cement mortar and concrete characteristics with and without silica fume were studied where a -fixed cement content of 500 Kgm/m3 and silica fume of .100/oas a replacement of cement were used. This study ’ included the following tests;- Tests on mortar and cement paste to determine required, standard water, initial and final. setting time, cement paste expansion and compressive strength at 3, 7 days for- Tests on fresh and hardened - concrete to determine the initial setting time, slump, the fresh concrete unit weight and compressive strength test, drying shrinkage, TGA and X-ray powder diffraction for hardened concrete.
Chapter Four:
Discusses and analyses results of -tests performed on mortar, cement paste, fresh concrete and hardened ed concrete where results were displayed in tables and figures. Also this chapter analyses costs of every concrete mix.
