Abstract Aim of the work The aim of this work is to study the sensitivity of the assay of SIL-2R in diagnosing lung cancer and to explore its specificity; a second purpose was to evaluate its potential usefulness as a biologic marker of the disease. Conclusion and Recommendation IL-2R shows a remarkable sensitivity in monitoring lung cancer and it seems to be a promising as a complementary diagnostic tool. So SIL-2R can help to detect lung cancer patients at an early clinical stages or asymptomatic stages with only suspicious radiographic appearance of malignancy before proceeding to more invasive methods in diagnosis and to contribute to their treatment as early as possible. This study can not confirm or exclude the usefulness of SIL-2R as an indirect indicator to tumor activity. Further studies are required to fulfill this objective by measuring SIL-2R levels at time of diagnosis of lung cancer and during various stages of the treatment and correlating SIL-2R values with the disease status. |
